The 2013 version of the Kentucky Trailblazers annual wagon train from their clubhouse near Shelbyville, Kentucky over to the annual Harvest Festival at Renfro Valley, Kentucky started on Monday, September 30, 2013. There were 14 wagons on hand to begin the trip this year, but various other wagons joined the ride through the week with up to 26 wagons at one point. The route covered about 100 miles with the group averaging about 20 miles each day. The group stuck to Kentucky's back roads whenever possible. There were scheduled stopping places each night and many of the participants moved up their trailers at the end of each day's ride to be used as sleeping quarters and as a place to store feed and other supplies. The weather this year was much nicer than last year as there was sunshine almost every day with temperatures between 55°(F) at night and 83°(F) during the day. There was a brief shower on one day right around lunch time, but it only lasted a few hours. I rode each day with my friend Danny Crawford and his 3 mule hitch in Danny's new wagon. Some of the participants in this event continued to ride on to Barbourville, Kentucky during the week following this ride. I've broken up the photos that I took into the days of the week as this makes it easier for the viewer to follow the events as they happened.
The wagons were taking a rest before tackling the infamous, dreaded Copper Creek hill.
