The annual Bath County Draft Horse Pull for 2012 was sponsored by the Eastern Kentucky Draft Horse and Mule Association on July 6th at the Lions Club Park in Owingsville, Ky. This was to be a "farm" pull and the rules called for two tennis balls to be placed on the top of the sled in small tuna type cans. Contestants were not permitted to jerk the sled in such a way that the tennis balls were dislodged. The area was under a drought and the air temperatures during the day were over 100°F. The pulling track was very slow and the sled was pulling "hard." Despite the conditions, however, a total of 10 teams showed up to compete. The pull started with 2000 pounds on the sled and the winning team wound up pulling 8,500 pounds a little over 11 feet. All three of the top placed teams were owned by Robert Powell from Pleasureville, Kentucky.
